Tinashe covers Wonderland magazine with ease.

The R&B songstress that is Tinashe is the latest cover star for Wonderland’s December/January issue. The “2 On” singer fronts the magazine in an angelic pose with the words “flashbacks, memories and dreams” accompanying her.

The 24-year-old is gearing up for her sophomore release, Joyride, that’s set to drop in 2018 following up her critically-acclaimed 2016 mixtape Nightride. Since hitting the scene, the singer has made efficient strides in banking on her modelling career by fronting brands and leading campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, M.A.C. Cosmetics and more recently Juicy Couture.

Latest ‘Joyride’ single shows singer’s poppier side after releasing brooding, sultry ‘Nightride’ project last year

Tinashe debuted her new single “Flame” live Thursday night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The pop number is the latest track to preview her upcoming album Joyride.

Clad in mostly red, Tinashe performed in front of her band and singers bathed in red light. As smoke shot up behind her, the light shifted to approximate the singer being surrounded in literal flames. The singer-dancer didn’t do her usual complex choreography, opting to focus on belting the love song and jumping around to the chorus.

No release date has been set for the long-awaited Joyride. Last fall, Tinashe released the companion project Nightride, which featured previously released singles “Party Favors” and “Ride of Your Life.” She followed Nightride with a guest appearance on a remix of Britney Spears’ “Slumber Party.”

“I see them as two things that are equally the same,” she told Rolling Stone of the differences between Nightride and the forthcoming Joyride. “They are equally me. I don’t like to be limited to one particular thing so I want to represent that duality and that sense of boundlessness in my art.”

She’s the urban legend with pop sensibilities, the go-to collaborator for Travis Scott and Britney Spears and the creative chameleon who won’t be put in a box. Put your lighters up for Tinashe…

Tinashe has been working. Working hard. “I’ve been in the studio every. Day. All. Month,” she deadpans on an unusually stormy day in LA. The damp weather is good for the typically sun-bleached city, which has bobbed in and out of water crises over the past several years, due not only to lack of rain but also to the abundance of water soaked up by celebrity lawns and untold thousands of palm trees that jut from every square mile from the San Fernando Valley to the shores of Santa Monica. It’s a city that works for the young R’n’B phenomenon – she’s lived there since she was eight years old and still resides at her parents’ house – perpetually sunny with shades of noir.
